Coastal Kayaking

June 14 - 17

Experience the coastal environment from a new perspective as you begin to kayak while viewing coastal flora and fauna. Paddle with MSC ecologists/biologists through salt marsh ecosystems, over eel grass beds and up the Pocomoke. Using tandem kayaks, each participant will enjoy exciting journeys through the diverse waters of the Eastern Shore while learning new exciting facts from environmental experts. Our days kayaking will be rounded out by tours of local barrier islands. We will visit Assateague Island and hear a member of the Refuge's education system talk about the unique features and history of the National Wildlife Refuge system, focusing on Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. We will also venture on to Wallops Island for a trip to the beach to learn about dune succession. Time on the beach will be spent looking for dolphins, birding, and collecting/identifying shells. Join us for a water-based journey of discovery.
