...hands-on, feet-wet education
The MSC college summer program is comprised of five sessions of summer courses. These are primarily field-oriented and aim to provide valuable hands-on experience and substantial knowledge applicable to real world disciplines. Class sizes are small, allowing instructors and staff to work closely with individual students. The summer teaching faculty hail from our member universities and offer a diverse background of expertise in a variety of subject areas.
The combination of dedicated faculty, unique geological and biological environments, access to specialized equipment, and opportunities for focused study and research create an unparalleled learning environment.
Courses range from 1-4 weeks each session, from May to August. Each course generates 3 semester hours of academic credits. Marine course topics range from general subjects, such as Marine Biology, to advanced studies like Coral Reef Ecology. Non-major courses are offered throughout the summer. These are a great way complete general education credits as well as build experience away from your home campus Any interested student can take any course offered at the campus by enrolling through the teaching faculty’s home university, then reserving housing with MSC.
