Join the Celebration!

Saturday, the 29th of October
  10:00am - 2:00pm
It may be raining outside, but we've got lots to do inside!

 All Day Fun!

Join us for games and hands-on activities throughout the day in the Mad-Scientist, Creatures of Cockle Creek, and Signs of Fall labs. Carve soap with the Ward Museum, watch a flintknapping demonstration, and visit with community vendors and exhibitors.

Dress up as your favorite marine or coastal creature!

Cockle Creek Research Boat Trips
Register in the morning at the front desk for a relaxing cruise on one of our flat-bottomed research vessels. Space is limited, so sign up early! Ages 9+. Must wear sneakers or boots.

Afternoon field trip to Wallops Island
Register in the morning at the front desk for a field trip to Wallops Island to explore the dunes and learn about the organisms that call this beautiful barrier island beach home. Picture ID required for ages 18+.

10:00AM-2:00PM—View exhibitors and join us for games and crafts in the Mad Scientist, Creatures of Cockle Creek, and Signs of Fall Labs

10:45-12:30PM--Cockle Creek Research Cruises. Register in the morning at the front desk for a relaxing cruise on one of our flat-bottomed research vessels. Ages 9+.

11:00AM: "Hug-a-Tree Puppet and Slide Show." Learn how to keep your child safe in this fun and educational program. Presented by Flatland Search and Rescue

12:45PM-2:15PM: Field Trip to Wallops Island. Register in the morning at the front desk.

1:00PM: “Life History of Horseshoe Crabs.” Did you know that horseshoe crabs are not true crabs? Learn all about the life history of these fascinating creatures from local presenter Jan Nichols.

Soap carving with the Ward Museum: every half hour from 10-12:00 and from 12:30-2:00.

Dabble in touch tanks....peer at plankton....trawl for marine life while aboard a research vessel....play some games....or just stroll around our campus enjoying the many changes.
